CLASSES
Flagler County Adult & Community Education Department offers an abundance of arts and crafts classes at several centers throughout the county. Students can take classes in acrylic painting, basketry, cake decorating, calligraphy, colored pencil, crocheting, drawing, faux finishes, floral design, jewelry-making, oil painting, paper crafts, pastels, photography, pottery, quilting, sewing, sculpture, stained glass, watercolor, and more! Classes are also available for children. New classes are added every semester.
TEACHERS
Community Education teachers who instruct our art classes come from a variety of backgrounds. Many have an extensive formal art education; others are self-taught professional artists. All are talented and inspiring. Their own work can be seen displayed locally, as well as throughout the United States and the world.
The Adult Education Department continually seeks additional talented art instructors. Interested artists should contact Joe Capece, Community Education Supervisor.
ART EXHIBITS
Two impressive art exhibits are presented each year by the Flagler County Schools’ Adult & Community Education Department. In February, in conjunction with the Flagler County Home Show held at Flagler Palm Coast High School, artists from all over display and sell at the Art Show & Craft Market. This event is attended by more than 20,000 people from in and out of Flagler County.
In April, the Adult Education Departments presents “Art in Perspective”. This show highlights the artwork of our Community Education art students and their instructors. This amazing exhibit showcases the talent that is developed as a result of attending our classes and is a fun event shared by family, friends, and the community.
Special features of “Art in Perspective” include art demonstrations by our instructors, musical entertainment by Adult & Community Education’s own music instructors, and refreshments served at the Julia Erickson Remembrance Reception.
